Our Partners
The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a Canadian registered charity and a vital learning, exploration, and conservation place for the Salish Sea Bioregion. It's also a major tourism destination in Greater Victoria attracting over 70,000 visitors every year.
Maintaining a saltwater aquarium with more than 30 open and closed systems running 24 hours a day through a myriad of pumps, pipes, filters, and chillers for the health of over 3,500 marine animals is a big task. The result is the largest aquarium on Vancouver Island and the only place anywhere dedicated exclusively to the marine life and Coast Salish culture of the Salish Sea. A unique place that is a catalyst for young and old in developing the knowledge to protect and preserve our environment and cultures of the Salish Sea.
To be a knowledge leader and serve over 10,000 students a year through curriculum based programming, we rely heavily on the support of individual, corporate, foundation and government giving and support. For their financial assistance and in-kind support, we would like to recognize the following community leaders for stepping up to the challenge of becoming Salish Sea Champions.
If you care about the Salish Sea as much as we do, and want to join this group of environmental leaders, please contact our Executive Director at ed@salishseacentre.org for more information.
TESTIMONIAL
“The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a tremendous example of an integral approach to education. Hands on experiences with the touch pools, close-up glimpses under microscopes, interactive games throughout the facility, and biologists on hand to answer questions all really make the place alive.
By becoming a supporter, you’ll be part of a strong voice for environmental conservation and know your contribution will sponsor school programs and exciting exhibits that inspire stewardship of the Salish Sea and the world’s oceans.”
